An Italian adult educator was suspended from her teaching position because of her work as an adult performer. Until last Thursday, Anna Ciriani taught evening classes to foreign adults in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia school system, and in her own free time, she became known as Madameweb, an internet adult performer and exhibitionist. Her dichotomous lifestyle had gone on without much media attention for over five years. In fact, for several years, she taught Italian literature to local secondary school pupils in the northeastern town of Pordenone. But when news caught of her adult lifestyle in 2002, as a few students found her on the web and plastered X-rated pictures of her on the school's bathroom walls, Anna Ciriani was transfered to the adult teaching post and life went on as usual.

Cicciolina, the famous Hungarian 80's porn sensation whose real name is Ilona Staller, was elected into Italian Parliament under the Radical Party in 1987, where she served until 1992. So why the sudden suspension of Ms. Ciriani in such an open-minded country that played cool five years earlier, back in 2002? Most sources I've read believe that the media attention Ciriani attracted during her very public appearance at the Venus erotic festival in Berlin, and the negative press that followed, ultimately led to outside pressures on the Friuli-Venezia Giulia school board's decision to get rid of her.
