Love her or hate her, Jenna Jameson is the most famous porn star in the world. She is a household name among adults of my generation, and this week, Jenna Jameson is featured on Oprah. She speaks of her hugely successful career in porn, her volatile teenage years growing up in Vegas, and her new role as full-time mommy to two healthy twin boys.
Not one to shy away from controversy, Jenna Jameson gave quite the speech at the 2008 Annual AVN Awards: Honesty is key –- and I will never ever again spread my legs in this industry, ever! When she spoke these words, the audience - filled primarily with industry people including fellow adult performers, directors and producers - booed her. Yet, many spoke up in her defense as well.

AVN 2008 Winners: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

The Adult Video News (AVN) Awards Show, now part of the Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE), was this Saturday evening in Vegas. Maybe you care, maybe you don't. But every year I discover new and interesting porn as a result of both the AVN nominations and the award winners. Consumers are inundated with vastly numerous adult film choices, and the number keeps growing each year -- so picking a title out of a selection of tens of thousands can be daunting. It can often feel much like finding yourself in the cereal aisle of a major grocer, except everything looks tantalizing and the options are a thousand fold. Since most of us don't have unlimited budgets, nor unlimited knowledge of each film made, I find the AVN awards to be a helpful guide for finding new adult series, actors, directors and web sites.
This year was probably the biggest year for the 25th Annual AVN Awards. Dave Navarro along with Artie Lang (Howard Stern Show) and a bevy of press people were present both before and during the awards show. Jenna Jameson came with her UFC fighting champion/coach boyfriend, Tito Ortiz. Jameson was met with boos as she told the audience:
I really want to be honest for a second. I'll never spread my legs in this industry ever again.

 Yes, it's that time of year again (well, almost). Every January, we get to see the biggest names in porn, as well as successful newcomers, mingling with fans, mainstream entertainers and each other. The AVN Awards Show has been described by Entertainment Weekly as 'the Oscars of adult', and rightfully so. The who's who of adult walk the red carpet, adorned with some of the sultriest and glitziest evening wear, ready to strike that sexy pose for swarms of press.
The 2008 AVN Awards Show is being hosted by Tera Patrick. Unbelievably, this will be Patrick's first time hosting the AVN Awards. This year's line-up is sure to please with the most award nominations going to a film, whose full, uncut version is so dirty, most vendors won't sell it. That's right, we're talking about Sex Z Picture's Upload. You can view the 58 page list for the 25th Annual AVN Awards Nominations here (pdf). The list is long as nearly 100 awards are given each year, but a lot of my favorites are up for best actor and actress in a video. If you don't feel like reading the whole document, the most interesting category is "Most Outrageous Sex Scene" on page 57 of the pdf.
