Politically-minded fans of Wicked contract star and writer-director, Stormy Daniels, have started an online petition to give Daniels an opportunity to take the Louisiana senate seat from incumbent Senator David Vitter (R) in the 2010 Congressional elections. Though, not endorsed by Wicked, nor initially endorsed by Stormy herself, DraftStormy.com has succeeded in winning Ms. Daniels' approval.
In fact, Stormy Daniels, a Baton Rouge native, recently gave an interview with Max Blementhal of the Daily Beast about her potential run for the US Senate:
In 2007, Senator Vitter, a staunch supporter of conservative political views including legislating against prostitution, was exposed committing adultery and soliciting services from prostitute, "DC Madam" Deborah Palfrey, thanks in part to an investigation backed by Hustler publisher Larry Flynt. Unlike former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, Vitter has not stepped down from office after breaking the law and getting caught doing the very things he championed against, politically.
Stormy's bid as a possible challenger to Vitter has received attention from the mainstream media, as this clip from CNN American Morning demonstrates:
Stormy Daniels is not the first porn star to run for office -- Mary Carey took that honor when she made headlines with her bid for governor in the 2003 California recall election. A porn star didn't win, but a former steroid junkie, turned action film star did. Go figure!
