Finally, some pragmatic advise on seducing your partner from two women who seem to be a lot of fun (pictured). Emily Posts and Lorelei Sharkey, better known as the team of Em & Lo, are getting a new sex advice show on British Channel 5: Sex - How to Do Everything is scheduled to air Thursdays at 11 PM, starting June 5th. The ladies dispense ingeniously practical advise on creating a satisfying sex life for everyone, such as this simple foreplay tip:
A great seduction technique is to have a mini foreplay session before going out for the evening together. Kiss passionately for 20 minutes and then leave it there. When you get back from seeing a movie or having a meal out, pick up where you left off. Don’t rush things -– draw it out!
I can only see benefits in a pre-date make-out session. Getting your woman/man hot before a date could set a sexy mood for the night that might even lead to a bit of fun before you even make it home.
Continuing with the notion that good sex is as much a mind game as it is a physical experience, Em & Lo drop a tip for the ladies, that quite frankly, works for the guys too.
Dress as if you were dressing for a second date. Being in a long-term relationship (LTR) is no excuse for dressing like a slob.
Admittedly, there are days when I wear a comfy track suit around the house as even the thought of anything without an elastic is out of the question! However, I make sure my clothes are clean and attractive -- the pants ride a little low and the top form fits a bit. Believe it or not, no one finds over-sized, worn clothes with food stains appealing. If your goal in marriage/LTR is not to have good sex on a regular basis, then by all means dress like Dan and Roseanne, but for the rest of us arousal often starts with visual stimulation.
The ladies also give some tips on massaging your partner, including sitting cross-legged with your partner's head in your lap while administering a soothing scalp massage. This sensual massage is innocent enough to do at a family picnic, such as a Memorial Day outing, but works equally well in the privacy of a bedroom.
I will be trying many of these tips myself. In fact, I was so impressed with the creativity of the dynamic duo, that I scoped out Em & Lo's web site, which includes the following brief bio:
We're Em & Lo... the self-proclaimed Emily Posts of the modern bedroom... co-authored five books so far: three A-Z guides, Buh Bye (Chronicle '07), Rec Sex and Sex Toy (Chronicle '06), the sex manual The Big Bang: Nerve's Guide to the New Sexual Universe (Plume '03 in the US; Hodder '04 in the UK), and the handbook Sex Etiquette for Ladies and Gentlemen (Plume '04/Hodder '05). We've written a column debunking sex myths for The Guardian (UK) and another dispensing sex advice for Men's Journal; we currently write the Mating column for New York magazine, a weekly column for More magazine in the UK, and we are contributors to Glamour magazine. We both live in New York. We've only had one fight.
Well, here's hoping their show makes it to the States for those of us without access to "Channel 5" in England.
