I have to say I'm a bit surprised by this. I pictured Ron as being a master chef with a decked out kitchen. I guess I assumed his love of food made him a good cook. His kitchen looks a little lacking, he's using a steak knife for his chopping for pete's sake! Having just recently bought a new knife set, I suggest Ron spends some of his well earned cash on some decent cooking knives. They make a big difference.
