Mother's Milk Almost Makes the Menu

Swiss restaurateur, Hans Locher (pictured) of the Storchen in Iberg, wants to add human breast milk to his menu. He came up with the idea while his wife was breast-feeding their newborn daughter some 35 odd years ago. By cooking up her "surplus" breast milk, he discovered that if you add a little whip cream, breast milk makes for some delicious recipes.
So, in the spirit of entrepreneurship, upon noticing that "there are a lot of mothers in my neighborhood", Locher put out an ad for breast milk donors. In fact, he offered to pay ££3 per 14oz of the stuff, or the American equivalent of $6.23 per liquid pound. According to Locher, a couple women have expressed interest in such a transaction. By his calculations, he would need approximately 11 lbs of mother's milk to get the "lactation" menu started. Said menu would include meat stews with meats sauteed in breast milk as well as soups and sauces containing at least 75% breast milk.
Unfortunately for Locher, Zurich Food Inspectors didn't appreciate his milky epicurean dreams. He has been officially banned by authorities from using human breast milk as an ingredient in his gastronomical concoctions. According to the food inspection department head, Rold Etter,
Humans are not on the list of authorized milk suppliers such as cows or sheep.
In fact, Locher has also incurred the wraith of the Swiss Association of Breastfeeding Counselors, who have labeled Locher's mommy milk project as, well, unethical for the baby and dangerous for consumption. Here's what their spokesperson, Christa Müller-Aregger, told the local papers:
This raises ethical questions. It is not a good idea to pay for milk because it might tempt mothers to put profit before their children.
When hospitals stockpile milk banks, the mothers and their milk are always given a health check. If a mother takes drugs or smokes then you find traces in the milk.
Human milk is specifically designed for babies and not to be of nutritional value for adults.
So professionals in the fields of food and breastfeeding are 100% against it, but what does Hans Locher think of all this?
One evening I thought that they must have a lot of extra breast milk that I could do something with. I remembered the excellent results of my previous experiments and dug out some of my old recipes. I never thought I would get this much media attention. It is scary what has happened in the past few days. The idea is over now and I think it's totally wrong.
Awe, poor baby. He'll just have to get his milk from cows and sheep like the rest of us adults.
Coincidentally, "Storchen" means Stork in English. Perhaps Locher should just check out some of the popular lactation titles listed below and keep his baby juice fantasies to himself.
