Last year, Barbie Cummings was stopped for speeding in Wilson County, Tennessee. She was going 92 mph in her pink Honda Accord, where the posted speed limit is seventy. During the routine traffic stop Tennessee State Trooper James Randy Moss found alcohol and illegal painkillers in Cummings' vehicle. Trooper Moss proceeded to inform the young Ms. Cummings that possession of illegal narcotics would prevent her from leaving the state of Tennessee. That's when Cummings broke down and cried, telling him she was a porn star under contract and had to travel to LA at least once a month to earn her living. Out of desperation, she then offered to show Moss her oral skills.
In the video below, which includes live interview footage of Barbie Cummings, the narrator describes the events of May 7th rather hilariously, but makes no mention of the painkillers and the aftermath (that's what I'm here for, yay!).
The ever so brilliant James Randy Moss, not to be confused with New England Patriots' star wideout 'Randy Moss', dumped Cummings' illegal painkillers into surrounding bushes and ignored her container of alcohol.
A married father of one, Moss knowingly tampered with evidence, watched porn on his work-issued laptop and took sexual favors from his traffic stop in exchange for leniency. Unfortunately for Cummings, Moss had already called in the ticket before the oral offer was made, so our little porn star was stuck with the $180 fine. Considering how much worse the legal ramifications could have been for Cummings had the painkillers and alcohol been handled according to the law, you could say she got a bargain for her blowjob.
In November, Moss was indicted by a grand jury on 10 counts, including tampering with or destruction of evidence and official oppression for two separate incidents. Moss's attorney successfully plea bargained the original 10 counts down to two. Moss quit, but I don't think it was voluntary considering he was officially suspended shortly thereafter.
In January of 2008, Moss received his "punishment": Four years of probation for the crimes he committed while serving as a uniformed Tennessee State Trooper. My online research reveals that many people find Moss's light punishment insulting in light of his multiple occurrences of abuse and inappropriate sexual innuendo. Moss had already misused his authority with another young women during a traffic stop on September 11th, 2006, which was the second incident on his indictment. He asked the woman to bare her breasts in exchange for a smaller ticket/fine. There were numerous other women reporting similar incidents with Trooper Moss once word of the Cummings exchange got out, but due to a lack of evidence, all those charges were dropped.
To add insult to injury, last November, the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) found itself under scrutiny for failing to notify the state Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission about 44 troopers who had left in the previous year. Though most of the troopers left on good terms or retired, thirteen were fired and/or left under scrutiny. One of those thirteen, Danny Hall, went to work as a deputy for the Franklin County Sheriff's Department within days of dishonorably resigning from the Highway Patrol amid an internal investigation in December. Trooper Hall, who served on the State Trooper applicant review board, was accused of giving interview exam questions to a potential candidate with whom he had a close relationship.
Let's end with a few words of advise -- don't speed in Tennessee unless you like giving head.
