Adult performer/actor/director, James Deen, is starring in a hollywood movie alongside Lindsay Lohan called The Canyons. The script for The Canyons is written by none other than Bret Easton Ellis. Ellis also wrote American Psycho, Less than Zero, and The Rules of Attraction to name a few of his gems.

Filming is scheduled for July 9th-21, 2012--that is if Lohan manages to stay sober and keep out of jail and/or mandatory rehab. The project which was initially funded by fans on Kickstarter is described as

...a contemporary thriller written by Bret Easton Ellis... to be directed by Paul Schrader (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Affliction, Auto-Focus, etc.)  The Canyons documents five twenty-something’s quest for power, love, sex and success in 2012 Hollywood.

We haven't been this excited for James Deen since he had the honor of being one of the two studs chosen to take Stoya's Double Penetration cherry in Bad Girls 5. Deen is no stranger to the public light, being perhaps one of the more successful male performers on the scene. He began his adult film career in 2004 at just 18 years of age--the youngest straight performer to enter the adult film industry. He came at a time when the industry was transitioning from middle-aged, hairy men to a more vibrant stable of male talent, that included a burgeoning alternative film scene. In the last 8 years, James Deen has performed in over 900 adult films.

Yet, despite nabbing a starring role in the upcoming Ellis film, Deen is not the most successful mainstream crossover performer. That honor still goes to French performer/actor/model and aspiring chef, Emmanuel DelCour, better known in the adult film community as Jean Val Jean. DelCour made waves on the popular reality cooking show, Chef Academy, when his "pornstar past" was revealed to the viewing public mid-season. Since then, DelCour and his 8-pack have been making the rounds in various mainstream film projects.

Then there's Ron Jeremy--next to Jenna Jameson--perhaps the most famous adult film icon alive today. He has had more cameos than any other adult performer. But of course, they are just cameos, not really starring or serious acting roles.

We hope James Deen can achieve similar or greater success in his Hollywood pursuits, helping to further chip away at the "adult stigma".
